White Face Crew is an Auckland, New Zealand based performance group, hitting streets & theatres igniting the imagination of audiences & passers-by with their charming vibe.

Drawing from the diverse performance backgrounds of core crew members Justin Haiu , Tama Jarman and Jarod Rawiri the White Face Crew create original hybrid works with roots in physical theatre, clowning, costume, character, hip-hop and contemporary dance and improvisation. You can’t pin the White Face Crew down – expect the unexpected!

White Face Crew’s first theatre work 'La Vie Dans Une Marionette' premiered at Auckland Fringe Festival 2013, to critical acclaim and a Fringe Award nod from Auckland Arts Festival.  Since it’s 2013 premiere it has been performed throughout New Zealand at Kia Mau Festival Wellington, Auckland Matariki Festival Hawkes Bay Arts Festival, One One Six in Whangarei.  ‘La Vie Dans Une Marionette’ had its international debut at the Yirramboi Festival in Melbourne in May 2017, followed by a season at the Gilded Balloon during Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017.  

Their second full length work ‘Double Derelicts’ premiered in 2015 at NZ Dance Festivals Tempo Auckland and The Body Festival, Christchurch. ‘Double Derelicts’ has since toured New Zealand with seasons at Kia Mau Festival Wellington, Auckland’s Matariki on the Move programme, Centrepoint Theatre in Palmerston North, Hawkes Bay Arts Festival and Hamilton Gardens Festival.  

White Face Crew are regular roving performers are often spotted roving Auckland streets, squares, parks, and villages with general tomfoolery at a variety of events including WOMAD, Cubadupa, Bastille Day to Waitangi Day, and from the Auckland Arts Festival to the 2011 Rugby World Cup, and 2017 Rugby Lions Fanzones. 

The White Face Crew was conceived in 2010, born out of playing together in the down time while Justin, Jarod and Tama were working with NZ physical theatre company Red Leap Theatre. The Crew have grown to also work with performers Regan Taylor, Tupua Tigafua, Rangi Rangitukunoa, Nikki Bennett, Manuel Solomon, Chris Ofanoa, Ash Jones and Onetoto Ikavuka.
